In the Winter of 2019, my two good friends Mike and Jacob approached me about possibly writing a tuba duet for the under-appreciated ensemble. Knowing that my friends were/are spectacular musicians, I jumped at the chance. Even though the premiere and subsequent recording may have been moved a year later than expected, I am excited to finally release it finished to you all! After a spectacular premiere and subsequent recording session, Mike has again asked me to compose a piece for him, this time for eight Tubas!

"Tubet" explores the capabilities of the tuba duet, starting and ending with mountain calls with fast musical acrobatics in between. My goal with this piece was to showcase both performers as well as compose dynamic musical concepts that allow the instrument to explore its own sound world.
